Belgotex Easter Hockey Tournament – Day 1: And the Beat Drops
The curtains lifted, the spotlight hit the turf, and the 2025 edition of the Belgotex Sport Easter Hockey Tournament came alive like a festival of stick skills and school pride. With every pass, tackle, and goal, Day 1 hit all the right notes - and if this was just the opening act, we’re in for one heck of a show.
As one parent summed it up while watching from the stands: “What a production. The kids are the headliners, the coaches are the conductors, and this whole tournament is just a world-class concert.”

Bridge House vs Durbanville gave us a full-throttle 3-3 banger, with Hugo Bredell nailing two for Durbanville, while Bridge House shared the spotlight and the goals.
Nelspruit turned up the volume in their 6-0 thrashing of Oudtshoorn, with Mathias Smook and Nico Meyer each bagging a brace - ruthless and rocking.
Girls’ Stage - All the Right Notes
Durbanville didn’t just arrive - they announced themselves. A jaw-dropping 12-0 performance against St. Dominics, with Jani Steenkamp (4 goals) and Amy ten Cate (3) stealing the mic.
Robertson danced to the beat of Wandi-Mari Ham, who hit a hat-trick in a hard-fought 3-2 win over Brackenfell - solo artist energy, all the way.

Eldoraigne had Jeanté Korff to thank for two goals in a 3-1 victory over HTS Drostdy, turning defence into rhythm in no time.
Peterhouse and Windhoek Gim gave us a beautiful 1-1 harmony, with Bina Brits and Amy Garrels trading goals and respect in a match full of tempo and technical class.
What’s Next on the Setlist?
Today, the tempo rises as teams head into the Cup, Shield, and Bowl group stages. Every pass matters. Every goal could define a tournament. And with the defending champs out of the picture, new headliners are ready to step up and own the stage.
