April means one thing in school hockey circles - the Belgotex Easter Hockey Tournament is back. And if you thought last year was big, 2025 is coming in hot with 96 teams, 8 world-class turfs, non-stop action, and every single game live on SuperSport Schools.

Before the first ball is pushed, we’re kicking things off in style with the Launch Event on Tuesday, 1 April, featuring none other than Tim Walsh. Hockey, live music, and energy for days - it’s the perfect start to what’s become one of the must-attend events on the SA school sport calendar.

So, How Does It All Work?

The tournament format is layered, competitive, and makes sure every team gets real game time:

📍 Phase 1 – Pool Stage

• 16 pools of 3 teams
• 2 matches each, quick and intense
• 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw, 0 for a loss

📍 Phase 2 – Group Stage

• Top team in each pool heads to the CUP GROUPS (A–D)
• Second-placed teams go into SHIELD GROUPS (E–H)
• Third-placed teams head into the BOWL GROUPS (I–L)
• More games, more chances, and the pressure builds

📍 Phase 3 – Playoffs

• The top teams from each group move on to Cup, Plate, Shield, Superbowl, Bowl, or Sword playoffs
• Win or go home. And if it’s a draw? Straight to showdowns - drama guaranteed
