The Girls Competitors
Somerset College
Led by top goal scorer Julia Brown, whose 8 goals have propelled them through the tournament. Their quarter final match up against Outeniqua saw Lara Gouws and Julia Brown (2) score the goals in a comfortable 3-0 win setting up a classic with the defending champions Monument in the Semi-Final. They conceded for the first time in the tournament but thanks to Annabelle Hamel and Leila Holtzhausen they secured a spot in the final where they will meet Middelburg!
Middelburg
An incredibly tough quarter-final saw both Middelburg and Woodridge fail to score, and the match went to a shootout. Middelburg were able to defeat the 2023 runners up 3-1 and set up a surprise semi-final against Rustenburg. Lume Smit scored her 11th and 12th goals of the tournament while Imke Grobbelaar added the gloss to the score line to make it 3-0 and secure a shot at the gold medal.
In the Plate Final its Hudson Park vs Fairmont, the Shield final sees Stirling take on Kingswood, the Bowl Final is a face-off between Pro-Ed Akademie and La Rochelle while the Super Bowl Final sees Hermanus take on Belville.
The Boys Competitors
Paarl Gimnasium
The defending champions have played like exactly that throughout the group stages and were strongly favoured but met a massive road block in the quarter finals when they took on Somerset College. John Coetzee cancelled out Michael du Toit’s goal and the two teams couldn’t be separated. It was the defending champions who triumphed 3-1 in the shootout to progress to the Semi-Final. There it was a straight forward hammering of Private School Swakopmund winning 9-1 with LD Nel getting three and John Coetzee and Juan Swanepoel both getting a double to set up a possible repeat for the defending champions.
Worcester Gymnasium
After a 100% group stage Worcester took on York in the quarter final. Joshua Coetzee and Christiaan Joubert both got on the scoresheet while a superb defensive performance stopped York form scoring and secured a top 4 place for Worcester. They did not want to settle for that, and a thrilling semi-final was drawn 1-1 with Stellenberg with Joshua Coetzee scoring the goal. The shootout was equally thrilling with Worcester triumphing 4-3 and earning a spot in the Final.
In the boys Plate final its Kingswood vs Durbanville, the Super Bowl sees Middelburg take one Northcliff, the Bowl Final is a battle between Hoerskool Punt and Strand while the Shield will be contested by Hermanus and DF Malan
